A micro-forest is created in a tiny back garden
In this compact garden in Camberwell, the client wanted to feel like he was surrounded by woodland. Despite the restricted dimensions of the site, we packed the garden with multi-stemmed birch trees underplanted with grasses and perennials to create texture and boost biodiversity in a place previously covered by astroturf.
A temporary lawn was laid when the garden was first planted. As funds became available, we explored paving options to create a secluded seating area, finally selecting reclaimed Yorkstone - a material with high sustainable credentials.
